Pet Battle Add-ons

WARCRAFT PET FOUNDRY BLOGGING CARNIVAL for SEPTEMBER

This is my submission for the Warcraft Pet Foundry Blogging Carnival which is located at http://warcraftpetfoundry.blogspot.com/  Rez from http://eviscerated.net/ started the warcraftpetfoundry site as well as a sub reddit http://www.reddit.com/r/warcraftpetbattles/.  The eviscerated site has a great podcast associated with where you can always count on some great pet battle talk.  Please check out all of these sites for some of the best pet battle topics out today.

The topic for this month is Pet Battle Add-ons.  I get all of my add-ons at http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/category/battle-pets
I honestly thought I only used 3 or 4 addons and when checking the curse add-on I realized it was more like 7.  I'm going to list each addon here and you can decide if it looks like something you would use.  Some of the descriptions are copied directly from the curse site.

1. Battle Pet BreedID: http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/battle_pet_breedid This add-on is at the top of my list.  If I'm trying to look for a tank or build a speed team this is the add-on that I use.  With so many different breeds of pets available, you want to make sure the pet you capture is the right one.

  • Displays the locations of all pets, stables and tamers on the world map.
  • Tracks your progress of catching pets in your current zone.
  • Shows the rarity of pets in battle and warns you of upgrades.
  • Displays all your enemies and allies abilities as you fight.

  • 3. PetJournal Enhanced: http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/pet-journal-enhanced
Pets now show the their predicted Level 25 stats in the pet card.
  • For both breed information and level 25 stat prediction; Grey text indicates a low confidence in the prediction. Gold text indicates strong confidence
  • Pet names are colored by their rarity.
  • Shows each pets rarity in its border in the pet journal list for non wild pets.
  • Shows each pets specialization is the pet journal list as an icon showing their highest stat. Now you know at a glance if your pet is tanky, speedy, or powerful.

  • The add-ons listed above are the ones that I can't live without, the next few are nice additions but I can still get by without them.

    4. Auto Safari Hat: http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/auto-safari-hat  Simple add-on that automatically equips your safari hat when you go into a pet battle.

    5.  Daily Tamer Check: http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/daily-tamer-check  Adds a small icon to your map.  When you mouse over the tamers that award bags as part of their daily are listed. This will show you which tamers that you have battled each day.

    6. Collect Me: http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/collect_me  Collect Me keeps track of your mounts, companions and titles in the game and can show you what mounts, companions, titles you're missing with additional information on where to get them. It can also summon companions and mounts randomly from a user defined list.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my list of add-ons and I hope that you will find something useful.  Happy Hunting!

    Pet Battle Strength/Weakness Chart

    Pet Battle Strength/Weakness Chart

Recently I made the decision to make a quick reference chart for pet matchups.  I decided to hunt around just to see what could possibly be out on the web.  Making a chart wouldn't be that difficult if there was nothing out there that I liked.  Then I came across this post http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1203604-Pet-Battle-Strengths-Weaknesses-Chart and found a really great chart.

This is exactly what I was looking for or planned on making.  I'm just glad that someone was thinking like I would of been when they made this chart.  I know that I plan on printing a small version out to keep near the computer.  Hopefully you will find it as useful as I do. Happy Hunting!

Carrying a pet on grand master aki

http://www.wowhead.com/npc=66741Grand Master Aki is located in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms and is the final trainer that you will face.  The nice thing about this fight is with the right team combination you can carry a low level pet with ease.  The team mainly consists of two level 25 pets and your carry pet.

For this fight I chose a level 8 Onyxian Whelpling.

    Aki's team looks like

For this fight you will want to use the crush and stoneskin talents on the Anubisath Idol. Most people like to use sandstorm as a second talent.  For this fight I don't like the lowered hit chance that it adds.  The Dragonbone Hatchling's talents will be slicing wind and Lift off.  The Hatchlings talents are not much of a concern since the Idol can pretty much carry this fight on his own.

For the first turn of this fight you will lead off with your carry pet.  This is the ideal spot for this pet since the damage that it will take is going to be very minimal and survivability is very high.  After the first swarm from Chirrup the cricket you will switch off to your Idol.

The first round with the idol he is going to take two swarms before he can use his stoneskin ability.  The stoneskin ability will last 5 rounds and will need to be refreshed once it reaches one charge.  All of the damage from Chirrup will be avoided.  You generally only have to refresh the stoneskin once but the possibility could exist that it may need refreshed twice.  After this fight since the Idol is a humanoid he should be at full health.

Stormlash will be the next pet that you will face.  As soon as he comes out he is going to use his Call lightning ability.  This fight normally lasts three rounds due to the strong attack from Crush.  After the third round your idol will most likely be down to 300ish hp.  He will typically last 2 rounds with Whiskers.  Whiskers is an aquatic pet so the Dragonbone Hatchling is perfect for this fight.

For the first round of this fight your Idol should still be alive and Whiskers is going to cast Dive.  I typically will refresh Stoneskin for this round.  The second round I will cast deflection. This allows the idol to avoid the high attack damage that comes after Dive.  The rest of this fight is pretty standard cast Crush until the Idol dies.  The Hatchling will then come in and finish off this fight. Typically one lift off and then a slicing wind and this fight is over.

That's the fight in a nutshell.  You beat Aki, finish your quest and get a bag of swag.  The Whelpling gained 4675 exp and reached level 14.  Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think of the post and how this worked out for you.
    Happy Leveling!
